Educational Visits
At Middleton Primary School, we believe that education goes far beyond the walls of the classroom. Carefully planned educational visits and enrichment opportunities are a vital part of our curriculum, helping to bring learning to life, spark curiosity, and create memorable experiences that stay with children for years to come.
Whether it’s exploring a museum, visiting a theatre, taking part in a STEM workshop, or heading off on a residential trip, these opportunities help children to see the real-world relevance of what they learn in school. They build confidence, deepen understanding and encourage children to ask questions, think critically, and make connections.
We also offer a wide range of in-school enrichment including visiting speakers and themed days. These activities broaden horizons, nurture individual interests and help every child to discover what excites and inspires them.
By providing rich learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom, we aim to develop well-rounded, confident, and curious learners.
Visit Planners 2025-26
The year group planners provide a rough overview of the trips we are planning for the this year, along with an estimated cost for each.
The estimated costs are based on previous years visits, with a slight increase factored in. However, until formal quotes are obtained for each trip, the school cannot give a definitive costing.

Enriching Experience Visits
We provide all our pupils in the school with an annual opportunity to participate in an 'Enriching Experience Visit'. Over the course of their time at Middleton, we aim to provide pupils with a different type of experience in each year group, so by the time they leave us in Year 6, they will have had 7 different experiences. These 'Enriching Experience Visits' are fully funded by the school to ensure every child can access these valuable opportunities.

Residentials
Residential visits are a valued and exciting part of school life at Middleton Primary School. These trips are carefully planned, in a progressive manner, in order to support children as they grow in confidence, build independence, and develop important life skills beyond the classroom.
Below is a brief summary of our residential offer. Each visit helps pupils challenge themselves, strengthen friendships, and learn to work as part of a team. Residentials provide rich opportunities to explore new environments, try new activities, and create lasting memories — all while encouraging resilience, responsibility, and self-belief.
We believe these experiences play a key role in preparing children not just for the next stage of their education, but for life.
The Big Middleton Sleepover - Year 3
This overnight sleepover at school is a fun and safe introduction to staying away from home. It's a great opportunity for children to build confidence and enjoy shared experiences with their friends.
Gulliver's Land - Year 4
Our Year 4 pupils enjoy a short one night residential to Gulliver’s Land, where they take part in fun-filled activities that promote teamwork, independence, and personal growth in a supportive setting. They also have the opportunity to explore the theme park.
Ingleton - Year 5
Set in the beautiful countryside, the Ingleton residential offers a real outdoor adventure! On this three night residential, children face individual and team challenges that build resilience, problem-solving skills, and a deeper connection with nature.
France - Year 6
Our residential journey culminates in an exciting, three night trip abroad to France. Children will be fully immersed in French culture and will have the opportunity to use all of their French language skills they have been building throughout their time at Middleton. This trip is also an opportunity to celebrate our children's time with us with many fun activities.
