Welcome to Year 4!
Summer Term - Down in the Jungle
This term, Year 4 will be learning about the habitats and the layers of rainforests with a focus on animals, plant life and climate. We will also be focussing on the country of India where we will be studying the geography, culture and landmarks. This will link to our English work on ‘The Jungle Book’ where we will be comparing the book and the film version as well as using the story to focus on genres such as debates and newspapers. In science, we will be investigating teeth structures of both human and animals in addition to understanding how food is digested. This term in maths, we will be continuing with our knowledge of decimals as well as moving on to data, geometry and measurement. We will also continue to practise rapid recall of our times tables and our participation in weekly keyboard lessons.
Spring Term - It's All Greek to Me!
We will be learning about the Ancient Greeks, looking at their way of life and how their civilization has had a lasting impact on the world. In English, we will be basing our learning around Greek myths (such as Theseus and the Minotaur) as well as historical events. In maths, we will be focusing on fractions and decimals. In science, we will be will be learning about states of matter as well as sound.
Autumn Term - Empires and Eruptions
As part of this topic, we will be learning about the Romans and moving onto learning about Volcanoes. We have a fantastic trip coming up to the Milton Keynes Discovery Centre where we will be learning lots about the Romans. We will be attending a Roman Banquet, exploring some Roman ruins and meeting a Roman Soldier.
