Summer 2
This term our topic is...
The World of Beatrix Potter
We will be learning all about the life of Beatrix Potter through our English and topic lessons. This term we will be reading 'The Tale of Peter Rabbit' and other tales written by Beatrix Potter.
This term we also have our very exciting 'Night Under Canvas' event.
Summer 1
This term our topic is...
Going Wild!
We are starting our topic off with a trip to Whipsnade Zoo on Wednesday 27th April and Thursday 28th April. We are very excited to be going to see wild animals up close and learning about the habitats they live in.
Wow! What an amazing trip we had to Whipsnade Zoo!
The children had a fantastic time and learnt so much about animals from around the world. They behaved beautifully and both staff from Whipsnade and members of the public commented on how super polite and well they represented our school.
We did a lot of walking each day and we all came home feeling very tired with achy feet!
Well done to both the staff and children!
Spring 2
This term we have been learning all about Incredible Inventions!
We started the topic with a home learning project where the children were asked to research an invention of their choice and put together a short presentation to share with the class.
This was a fantastic speaking and listening opportunity and we all learnt so much about the different inventions that we had researched. Many of us really enjoyed being a teacher for a few minutes!
Welcome to spring term!
This term our topic is Marvellous Medicine!
To start our topic we were lucky enough to be visited by Lucy the nurse. We have learnt lots about being a nurse and David and Beth even had their leg bandaged up!
During our Great Fire of London day the children took part in many exciting activities. One of these involved a dance and drama workshop. The children had the opportunity to explore movement and create a dance.
In Autumn 2 Year 2 are learning all about...
The Great Fire of London
This is an exciting topic which we started our learning off with an exciting day at school on Tuesday 10th November. This day was full of creative activities, drama, art and baking to help 'hook' the children into the topic. Many children chose to dress up in costumes and they looked absolutely fantastic!
As part of this we are sending home an extended homework project where the children will be asked to create a model of London on Fire. Please start saving cereal boxes and kitchen roll tubes to help to create your models! This homework will be set on Friday 13th November and completed models will be displayed around the school from Monday 14th December.
During Autumn 1 our topic was
It's Great to be Me!
Through this topic we learnt lots about our bodies but also about where we live. We went on a walk of our local area and we learnt about the history of Middleton.
