Year 1 Summer Term
This term in Year 1 our topic is 'Time Detectives’.
We will be having lots of history lessons this term as we find out about the past. As part of our learning, we will be looking at toys, seaside holidays and schools. We will compare what they are like now and what they were like in Victorian times. We will also have lots of exciting science lessons all about plants and trees.
PE kits need to be in school every day as lessons may be changed due to poor weather or events in the hall. Typically, we will have two outdoor PE lessons this term, on a Monday and Thursday.
The children have the opportunity to visit the library once a week and may take one book home at a time. Robins visit the library on a Tuesday, Wrens on Wednesday and Sparrows on Thursday.
Homework is set on a Friday and is to be completed in the homework book and handed back in by the next Wednesday, unless the homework task states otherwise. Homework will also include vocabulary for the following week in case you would like to discuss this with your child. If homework is handed in late, the teacher may not be able to mark it in time for handing it back out.
Please read with your child daily, or as much as possible and add comments to the reading record. Your child can change their reading books in class themselves as frequently as needed. You are welcome to come to Rise and Read sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:40-9:00.
