As always, start todays learning by completing the starter of the day! The answer sheet is provided for you to check your work!.

We would like you to complete the Converting Measurements questions on the school website. Once you have done the Converting Measurements quiz, have a go at the arithmetic test as well.

When you have finished them, you can mark your work using the answer sheets. If you get anything wrong, please go back to the lesson on the website and have another look at what you needed to do.

Then, reattempt the question in the quizzes using a coloured pen to show your edit, improvement and your learning! Remember, it is okay to make mistakes so long as you go and learn from them! J

WALT understand the volume of shapes.

Start today’s learning by looking at the maths starter of the day. Have a go at the questions and mark your work using the answer sheet provided before attempting today’s learning.

Today, we are going to look at the final new content of Year 5 – Volume. The volume of shapes refers to the inside of a shape. This is different to area. Area is the area inside a 2D shape whereas the volume of a shapes is the space inside a 3D shape. The volume of cuboids can be worked out by doing base x width x height.

WALT estimate the volume of shapes.

Start today’s learning by looking at the maths starter of the day. Have a go at the questions and mark your work using the answer sheet provided before attempting today’s learning.
Today, we are going to estimate the volume of shapes. To do this, we are going to give the cubes we have been working with a standardized unit. This now means we will be estimating a volume of a 3D shape. A reminder, the volume is space that a 3D shape takes up.
Friday 3rd July 2020
WALT measure the volume of liquids and estimate capacity.

Start today’s learning by looking at the maths starter of the day. Have a go at the questions and mark your work using the answer sheet provided before attempting today’s learning.
Today, we are going to look at volume of liquids and capacity. When you measure liquids, we are looking at the volume (space) that the liquid takes up usually in ml. Capacity is different. Capacity is the total space available within the object.
