WALT: Use commas to clarify meaning

Start today’s learning by having a final practice of today’s spellings and we will do the test at the start of the lesson.

Today, we are going to look at how to use commas to clarify meaning. This is quite an important skill to master in order to make your writing very clear to whoever is reading it. We will be going through examples of this on the PowerPoint and there will be chances for you to share your ideas. After the lesson, you will have a go yourself at one of the chilli challenges below.

WALT: Share write our setting description

Start today’s learning by completing the English starter on the website and we will go through the answers during the live lesson.

Today, we are going to share write the first part of our setting description (forest). During the live lesson we will discuss different ideas and produce a great paragraph. This will then be saved for you to access on the website and you can either use this as your first paragraph or magpie some ideas if you wish to write your own.

Please note that there are no chilli challenge documents needed for this lesson. During the live lesson you will be share writing the start of your setting description which will then be uploaded to the website. You can then either continue on from this or use some ideas and start your own.

Start today’s learning by completing the English starter on the website and we will go through the answers during the lesson

Today, we are going to plan our setting description. In the lesson we will have a go at planning the forest part of our setting and use all of your wonderful ideas to put onto the planning grid. After the lesson, you will have a go yourself at planning the next part of the setting description, the sweetie house you created

WALT: Use our senses to create descriptive sentences

Start today’s learning by completing the English starter on the website and we will go through the answers during the lesson

Today, we are going to look at using our senses to paint a picture in the reader's mind.  We will start off by using single words and expand them into ENP and other forms of figurative language such as similes, metaphors and personification. After the lesson, have a go at one of the chilli challenges below.

Today, we are going to look at how to create atmosphere in descriptive writing. We shall look at some examples of writing which clearly show how using different vocabulary can create a sad or happy mood and then use this to have a go ourselves.
