Week Beginning 15.06.20

Monday 15th June 2020
WALT identify the key features of emails.

This week, we are going to learn about electronic letters also known as emails. By the end of the week, you are going to write an email as a character from the story to another.

Tuesday 16th June 2020
WALT use VIPERS to answer reading questions.

Today’s English task is reading focused. You will need to read the chapter from Cosmic called “I Am On Hold” (pages 34-38 if you have a paper copy). Then, when you have finished reading the chapter, log in to Purple Mash and complete the quiz in your alerts.

Wednesday 17th June 2020
WALT plan and think about what we would write in a persuasive email.

Today, we are going to plan and think about what we would write in an email, as Liam, to Florida, trying to persuade her to be ‘your daughter’ for the trip. You will need to recap the persuasive work we did a fortnight ago. I have attached the link for these resources on the school website.

Thursday 18th June 2020
WALT draft an email to a character in a story.

Once you have completed the SPAG starter, I would like you to read the chapter “You’ll like It When You Get There” from our book Cosmic. This chapter could help you further develop your plans for writing your emails to Florida.

After reading the chapter, have another look at your plan. Do you think you could use any information from the chapter to help you develop your own plan? Edit your plan by ‘magpie-ing’ some of the ideas from the story.

Today, we are going to write a draft of our emails on paper. This should include the key features of an email which we explored in Monday’s lesson. I have put a copy of an email success criteria on the website for you to use as a tick sheet should you want to make sure you have everything that you need.

Friday 19th June 2020
WALT edit and improve our email writing.

Today, we are going to take another look at the emails we wrote yesterday. I would like you to think about how you could improve your work.

Once you have written your initial thoughts, I would like you to focus on editing and improving your work. You should be able to include your Even Better If on your final email draft.

Your final email, which you will be writing today, will be typed up onto the email template on Purple Mash. You will need to search for 2email on Purple Mash. Once you have opened the software, press the envelope with the plus sign to create a new email. Don’t forget that you need to send the email to Florida. If you don’t, then we won’t be able to se it!
