Week Beginning 06.07.20

Monday 6th July 2020
WALT use VIPERS to answer reading questions.

Start today’s learning by completing the SPAG mat and use the answer sheet to check your answers to the questions.
Today’s English task is a reading comprehension. You will need to read the chapters from Cosmic called “Last Chance to Vote” and “I am Half a World Away.” Then, when you have finished reading the chapter, log in to Purple Mash and complete the quiz in your alerts.
There are 15 questions to complete. Please also bare in mind that if you do not score more than 12, we will be sending your work back as a redo. Use the book carefully to help you work out the answers to the reading comprehension.
If you have any problems with it, please let us know on the blogs.
Good Luck! smiley

Start today’s learning by completing the SPAG mat and use the answer sheet to check your answers to the questions.
Please read Chapters 24 – The Real Thing – and 25 – Quest Orange - before starting today’s challenges.
Today, we are going to look at using appropriate sentence starters to improve our writing in arguments.
Thursday 9th July 2020
WALT use a model write to structure our own writing for points in an argument.

Start today’s learning by completing the SPAG mat and use the answer sheet to check your answers to the questions.
I would like you to read Chapters 26 – Launch Minus 48 – and 27 – Some Kind of Lovely – for pleasure before you start your work today. Otherwise we may struggle to finish the story by the end of the year!
Today, we are going to look at a model point written by Mr Morris to see how we structure arguments. We use the PEEL structure when arguing so that we fully explain why we have that point of view. This makes the argument more convincing to the reader.
Friday 10th July 2020
WALT write an argument for or against a given statement.

Start today’s learning by completing the SPAG mat and use the answer sheet to check your answers to the questions.
Then, I would like you to read for pleasure Chapters 28 – I Want My Daddy – and 29 – The Moon You Idiot. We’re getting closer and closer to the end of the story.
Today, you are going to write an argument for the statement:
Was it the right decision to send Liam into space in replacement for Mr Xanadu?
When writing your arguments, please remember the structure that we looked at yesterday in the model writing and the sentence starter work we did on Wednesday.
