WALT: Recognise key features of a specific genre (Fairytale)

Start today’s learning by completing the SPAG mat on the website and use the answer sheet to check your answers to the questions.

Today, we are going identify key features of fairytales. What do they all have in common? What phrases or words might we expect to see? We will then research the famous Brothers Grimm, looking at who they were and what they wrote.

Key features they tend to have in common

 

Once upon a time / there once was a ...

Written in past tense

Passed on by word of mouth

Fictional events/characters

Good vs Evil

Problem, climax and resolution

Moral to the story

Often a happy ending though there are some with a darker twist.

Common themes like enchantment, magic and love.

Please note there are no separate documents for the chilli challenges today. Please see the expectation for each chilli challenge in the document above. Work can either be completed on paper or in a word document/powerpoint.

WALT: Write dialogue between two characters

 

Start today’s learning by completing the SPAG mat on the website and use the answer sheet to check your answers to the questions.

 

Today, we are going to write some dialogue (speech) between two characters. This is your chance to be as creative as possible. During the live lesson we will be going through some examples for these.

Please note that there are no additional documents for the spicy challenge as this can be typed on a computer or hand written.

WALT: use figurative language (symbolism, similes and metaphors)

 

Start today’s learning by completing the SPAG mat on the website and use the answer sheet to check your answers to the questions.

 

Today, we are going to use figurative language in the form of symbolism, similes and metaphors to write some fantastic descriptions based on a character.

 

Your task will be to complete one of the challenges below and you can re-watch the video on the website if you need too. During the live lesson we will be going through some examples for these.

Please note that there are no additional documents for the mild challenge as this can be hand written or typed on the computer.

WALT: Use expanded noun phrases and prepositional phrases to enhance description

This week we will be exploring the short story of Red Miss Take (in the form of a video) and we will be writing some descriptive pieces based on it.

 

Today, we are going to use descriptive language in the form of expanded noun and prepositional phrases to write some fantastic descriptions.
