WALT: Understand fractions as decimals (Part 2)

In this lesson we will be continuing our learning on understanding fractions as decimals. We’ll look at representing fractions and decimals in a variety of ways such as: concrete, words and expanded form.

 

We will start by looking at some examples and there will be a chance for you to contribute during the lesson. Mr. Morris will direct you to complete one of the following challenges and there will be a chance to complete some problem solving questions too.

In this lesson we will be building on from our knowledge of decimals from yesterday. We will be looking at different ways to represent fractions using either counters, bead strings or hundred squares with a focus on tenths and hundredths and then convert these fractions into decimals.

 

We will start by looking at some examples and there will be a chance for you to contribute during the lesson. Miss Ring will direct you to complete one of the following challenges and there will be a chance to complete some problem solving questions too.

In this lesson we will be exploring decimals for the first time. We will discuss the terms tenths and hundredths and then see how each part of the decimal is broken down into tenths and hundredths (partitioning).

 

We will start by looking at some examples and there will be a chance for you to contribute during the lesson. Mr Morris will direct you to complete one of the following challenges and there will be a chance to complete some problem solving questions too.
