WALT: investigate the key functions of the human skeleton

For your Science this week, we will be learning about the key functions of the human skeleton. We would love if you could join us for our live lesson this afternoon at 1:30pm with Miss Sheard.

If you cannot join us today, work through and discuss the PowerPoint below. This will give you lots of information as a starting point.

For more information about how our skeleton moves, please click on the following links:

For your main activity today, you will be working on the Functions of our Skeleton sheet below.

You will need:

  •  a red pencil to colour in bones which protect our vital organs
  • a blue pencil to colour in bones which support us and keep us upright
  • 3 more colours to create a key and circle examples of the different joints in our body

If you do not have access to a printer, please look at the PowerPoint for how to complete each task.

Challenge!

Can you create your own learning clip to explain the functions of the skeleton?

Think about including information on:

Protection-  Which bones protect our vital organs? How?

Support – What bones keep us upright? What would happen if we didn’t have bones to support us?

Movement – How do different joints work? How do they allow us to move?
