WALT: set personal goals for the new year

The start of a new year is the perfect time to think about all of the goals you want to achieve and how you are going to achieve them.

Make a Resolution for 2021

Research:

What is the difference between a wish, a resolution and a goal?

Reflect and Discuss:

Think about what is important to you and fill out the chart below. Don’t forget to think about the following questions:

  • How will you achieve your resolutions?
  • When do you hope to achieve them by?
  •  Why have you chosen them?

Discuss what you hope to achieve in 2021 with your family and share your answers in the chart.  What are their wishes/ resolutions/ goals? Do you share any of the same? How do they think you will achieve what you have set out to? Perhaps they can offer different ideas or solutions.

Extra Activity – Gratitude Jar
The start of a new year is also a great time to think about all of the things you are thankful for. A Gratitude Jar is a lovely way for you and your family to collect all of your memories throughout the year.

Here is a list of some of the things that you could include:

  • Accomplished goals
  • Funny moments
  • Memories worth saving
  • Surprise gifts
  • The beauty of nature
  • Little daily pleasures

You could even decorate your jar to make it extra special.
