WALT: Debug simple programs
Last lesson we were looked at algorithms and as you saw, they don’t always work exactly as expected and can prevent the program doing what you design it to do. Today we are going to look at debugging a computer program.
When we’re talking about computers, what do bugs and debugging mean?
Today’s topic is a coding lesson on Purple Mash. Each star task has been set as a 2Do and has clear instructions for you to follow. There is a task where you have to debug the program in each 2Do. You have three stars to choose from but perhaps you would like to do all three, starting with the one star challenge.
Make sure that you watch the video before each challenge so that you know exactly what to do. Once you have completed each challenge you will have to click the arrow at the top of the screen to play your code. Make sure that you click on the object if it says ‘when clicked’ otherwise nothing will happen. The ‘next challenge’ arrow will then flash up if you have entered your code correctly.
If you get stuck, there is a hint at the bottom of every challenge and you can click the question mark in the top corner to help you. If you are still stuck, watch the videos on this page.
