New catering provision for Middleton
From September, Middleton will be working in partnership with Innovate, the school’s new catering provider. On offer to pupils will be restaurant quality cuisine with a menu that is nutritionally balanced, seasonal and designed to ensure children eat well.
Innovate believes that quality catering and a good dining experience are key elements to the school day and contribute positively towards pupils achieving their full potential. All dishes will be prepared fresh on the premises daily using high quality ingredients and will include:
The menu will follow a similar weekly pattern, so pupils know what to expect; for example, a roast dinner served every Wednesday and a curry every Thursday.
The popular themed days celebrating events, such as ‘Bonfire Night’, ‘Chinese New Year’ and ‘World Book Day’, to name just a few, will continue.
Initially in September, Innovate will be providing a cold lunch option only, please see menus attached. This is because we need to be able to safely deliver the meals to the classrooms whilst the children remain in class bubbles. As soon as is feasibly possible, Innovate will provide delicious hot food options that everyone can eat together. In addition, when it is safe, Innovate will provide a salad bar bursting with homemade healthy choices for pupils to choose from.
Prices have increased slightly to £2.30 and will need to be ordered 5 days in advance. Payments and orders can be made online via our school website by clicking on ‘Online Payments Login’, please see our attached guide.
We have attached a menu for the cold lunch options for the first two weeks of September. The options for the day will also be visible when you select a date on the booking calendar.
The Dining Experience
Middleton will be working with Innovate to create a newly designed, even better dining experience for the children. Investment will create an area that is bright, friendly and engaging, which pupils will enjoy spending time in. In the kitchen, there will be new light equipment, displays and bakery racks installed over the summer months and there will be additional support and comprehensive on-site training for Middleton’s catering staff.
Innovate are dedicated to having a positive impact on society and the planet and, as a social impact business, provide a budget for pupils to make a positive social difference at Middleton. This fund may be used to purchase seeds, install Eco notice boards, bring in environmental speakers, or even to support a school trip.
Catering staff will get involved in school life by attending school council meetings and will give bespoke cooking lessons, when it is safe to do so. The lessons will provide a unique opportunity to educate pupils in an important life skill, cooking from scratch with fresh ingredients.
Innovate are also the new catering providers across all of the Kingsbridge Education Trust’s schools and have produced a short video.
