As part of British Science Week, we had a whole school Science Day. We were very lucky to have a visit from a scientist from the Open University who started our day with a bang (quite literally)! Our visitor demonstrated atomospheric pressure to us by inflating a balloon inside a bottle, he also made colourful 'elephant toothpaste' that came foaming out of the top of bottles and he demonstrated how to make a plastic bottle shrink without melting it with a flame!
As part of Science Day, we used our DT skills to make a model and then applied our enquiry skills to lead an investigation to test our models. Across the school we had: aeroplanes, boats, Roman Catapults and eco-friendly shoes. We tested our models for their intended purpose and recorded our findings.
