Middleton in Top 7% of Primary Schools in the Country for Teaching Phonics

Middleton Primary School staff and students have been congratulated for their outstanding achievement in the government’s 2018 phonics screening check, by the School Standards Minister, Nick Gibb, MP.

In a letter sent to the school, the Minister enthused that he was delighted to see that 96% of pupils at Middleton are reaching or exceeding the pass mark, which places them in the top 7% of all primary schools in the country. He wrote that the schools success in teaching phonics and early reading effectively means that Middleton’s pupils are developing a firm foundation in reading.
