Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)

Picture 1

In French, we offer our children:

  • The confidence to speak with good intonation and pronunciation
  • Fluency in reading
  • Fluency and imagination in writing
  • A strong awareness of the culture of the countries where the language is spoken
  • A passion for languages and commitment to the subject
  • The ability to use languages creatively and spontaneously
  • An independence in their studies and the ability to draw upon a wide range of resources

We are incredibly lucky at Middleton to be taught by a specialist French teacher, Mlle Baldwin, in Years 3, 4, 5 & 6.

Our French learning in each year group covers a range topics -

Year 3 includes: greetings, numbers, colours, our family and pets.

Year 4 includes: the weather, sports, simple directions and planning a party.

Year 5 includes: school, our body, the cinema, holidays and jobs.

Year 6 includes: our daily routine, food, animals, role models and heroes.

Étoile du mois

Each month Mlle Baldwin chooses an 'étoile du mois' from each class. These stars of the month are pupils who have shown an outstanding level of commitment, dedication and effort in their French lessons.
