Genre of the Month!
April - Country Music
This month we are learning all about country Music! This includes artists like Dolly Parton, Glen Campbell, Johnny Cash and Shania Twain. Neil Diamond also identifies as a country artist. There seems to be a close relationship with Country music and Pop music. Some modern day artists that you may know such as Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift started out as country singers and then their music evolved into pop. Below are a few different examples of country music.
I also thought it may be a nice idea to show you some other songs that are both country/pop music. Some of these you may have heard of:
Do you like country music? Which one was your favorite? Do your parents like any country music? If so what songs and artists do they like?
Let me know! Post on Purple Mash or Tweet @Musicmps_
I hope you enjoyed it!

Matilda Music Video Challenge!
The story 'Matilda' was originally written by Roald Dahl in 1988. In 2011 Dennis Kelly wrote 'Matilda the Musical'. The story is all about a little girl called 'Matilda' who has magic powers. The original clip below shows what powers she had! The KS1 performing arts club created their very own version of the 'Matilda' video also seen below.
Can you film yourself with your family creating a 'Matilda' moment at home? If so I would love to see some video clips! Post them on Twitter and tag @PerformingArtsMPS.
I can't wait to see what you come up with!
