WALT use semi-colons, colons and dashes

 

Today we would like you to apply your understanding of semi-colons and colons. If you are unsure please look back at the English work from last week. We are also going to try to include dashes too. Take a look at this video below to remind you of how to use them: 

 

Punctuation: Using dashes, semi-colons & colons to link sentences (KS2)

Your task today is all about a theme park! You will be writing about a theme park using colons, semi-colons and dashes. 

 

Mild

Complete the activity below. You need to write each paragraph out and add in the colons, semi-colons and dashes into the correct places. You don't need to print this out, you could just write it straight onto a piece of paper and then photograph for Purple Mash:

Complete the activity below. You need to write each paragraph out and add in the colons, semi-colons and dashes into the correct places. On the 3rd page you need to think creatively, we are expecting you to use lot's of description to make the theme park sound really exciting!

You are designing a new theme park!

1. Please draw a plan of your park e.g.

2. You need to describe your theme park using colons, semi-colons and dashes. Have a look at the example paragraphs in the Mild task to help you with forming your ideas.

Make sure you describe the park, the rides, the food options, where visitors can stay (most big theme parks have hotels!) but you must make sure your description is interesting and persuasive. 

Please take a photo of your park map and your description and upload them to your Purple Mash.
