WALT create a poster about Milton Keynes
For your Friday lesson, you will be creating a poster all about our town of Milton Keynes.
This has been set as a 2Do for you on Purple Mash, however you may complete this task on paper if you would prefer to. Make sure to include the key features of our town and what it is most known for e.g. concrete cows, Xscape. You can use the facts you learnt about Milton Keynes yesterday to add some information to your poster.
I look forward to seeing your finished posters on the Purple Mash blog! :)

WALT compare the features of a town and a village
This week, we have been working on features of a town and countryside setting. Today's lesson is focused on real-life examples of towns and villages. Work your way through the powerpoint and see if you can work out which location is a town and which is a village.
Your star tasks are on the powerpoint.
As a challenge, can you find any more towns and villages near to where we live? Can you name any you have visited before?

WALT design our own setting
Today's English lesson involves you being creative! You have identified some features of a town and countryside setting in the story and written some lovely sentences to describe them. In this lesson, you will be choosing either a town setting or a countryside setting and creating your own!
First, have a look at the pictures of different features you would find in a town or country setting. These are photographs and you might recognise some of them, however some may be new things.
When you look at each photo, have a think about the following questions:
There is a sheet for you to have a look at and this is optional for you to complete, however it may give you some ideas for features to include in your design.
To create your design you could:
Be as creative as you like!
Create your design and tell an adult the features you have included
Create your design and label it to demonstrate the key features of a town or countryside setting
Create your design and write sentences to describe the key features of a town or countryside setting. Think about which mouse would like to live there and why.

WALT describe a setting
Watch the story 'The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse' through again, this time focusing on the two different settings. Pause the story to check the vocabulary. Which words describe the country? Which words describe the town?
Task
For today's task, you will be describing the town and country settings. There is a sheet for you to use but if you do not have a printer, you can write your sentences on paper and have a go at drawing the settings if you like.
Make sure you think about what you can see, how the setting makes you feel and what would it sound like.
Write simple sentences using the opener 'I can see....'
Remember to use your phonics knowledge to sound out!
Write sentences to describe each setting and include 'and' to extend them and add more detail.
Write sentences using 'and' to add more detail. Don't forget to use adjectives to describe what you can see e.g. There are tall buildings.
To make your writing even more interesting, try to change your sentence openers to make sure they don't all begin the same way.
