Woodpeckers, Blackbirds and Starlings have had an exciting start to our school year. Our topic last term was Marvellous Middleton. The children went on a local walk and we drew pictures of the landmarks we saw and made our own maps. They then worked in groups to design and build a part of our school using junk materials. This was then all joined together for a display in the classroom.
In our Literacy groups some of the children made jam sandwiches as we were learning how to write and follow instructions. They also enjoyed sampling their finished product!!
Year 2 enjoyed a fantastic day of story telling and activities during the Workshop. Many of the children dressed up as characters from Roald Dahl books and made exploding grannies using their milk bottles! They also made concertina chickens. A great day was had by all.
Our Year 2 annual performance was George's Marvellous Medicine with a Twist. This came about from our topics in Literacy on Roald Dahl and Science on medicine. The children did an amazing job learning their lines and songs giving exceptional performances to the rest of the school and their parents. Well done Year 2!
