Middleton Primary School Lockdown Procedure
In the extremely unlikely event of a serious incident occurring in the local area or on the school premises, our lockdown procedure ensures a sensible and proportionate response to any external or internal incident which has the potential to pose a threat to the safety of staff and children at Middleton Primary school. Our procedure aims to minimise disruption to the learning environment whilst ensuring the safety of all pupils and staff. Our lockdown procedure can be activated in response to any number of situations. Middleton is able to respond to a potential threat by engaging either a partial or full lockdown. We are also able to move from one to the other as required. All staff are aware of what to do in the event of a lockdown and will give instructions to the children accordingly.
During a Lockdown
Middleton Primary School wants it’s parents to know that we understand and share their concern for the children’s welfare and emphasise that we will be doing everything possible to ensure the safety of the children and staff. Parents will be alerted to the lockdown by either text or email. We ask that you do not try to contact the school as this would tie up valuable lines of communication. We also request that you do not come to the school as this could interfere with emergency providers access to the school and could put yourselves and others in danger. During the lockdown our office and reception will be unmanned and all external doors will be locked. We would not be able to release children during a lockdown. The school will contact you to tell you when it is safe to collect your child and where exactly collection will be from.
